DVD authoring is the process involved in creating a fully interactive, customised digital video to include features such as custom navigation systems, digital surround sound and subtitling.

COLORTAPE offers a complete DVD authoring option. As part of our Post-Production Editing suite, we use DVD Studio Pro to do our DVD Menu Designs & Authoring. We can make simple basic menu driven or automatic playable DVD's or complex GPRMs programmed authoring as listed below. We understand that every client has different needs when it comes to creating a DVD, which is why we offer a tailored product on all authoring jobs. The DVD Authoring Process
First, you make the plan and we are more than happy to assist you. There will be many frequently asked question usually our clients ask us. Some examples:
Why do you want a DVD? Would another format work? Who will see it? Where will they play it? How will they play it? Consumer or industrial player? Do you need branching to different segments/chapters or is it a straight linear play? Special features? Multiple audio tracks? Subtitles? External control? Who does the artwork for the menus (you or we)?

Next, send us your assets: The video, graphics and the artwork.
Production begins. We encode your video into high-quality MPEG-2. Using Sonic Scenarist, we put together your DVD. Some of the many features briefly described above it can include features such as:

• Language Subtitles -- Toggle them on/off with your remote, or via a special menu
• Scene Index/Chapter Stops -- Instantaneously access various 'scenes' or 'stop-points' of the movie through the remote control or via our user-friendly menus. Full motion inset previews let you easily know which scene you'll be jumping to.
• Previews/Trailers -- Have additional movies you want to promote? A theatrical trailer that you want to include? No problem. We'll just set up another menu option.
• Photo Galleries -- So you thought all those behind-the-scenes stills are only for your collection? Put them out there for the world to see. Again, it's a snap to set up a photo gallery, complete with a variety of navigation options.
• Alternate Audio/Language/Commentary Tracks -- With the click of a remote button, or via a menu option, you can select another language. We have room for up to 8 different tracks. Put a Director's or Actor's Commentary in there too!
• Parental Control -- Need to keep the pee wee away from your DVD? No problem, we'll lock it up tight, unless you know the pass code.
• Regional Coding -- If you're limiting your release to one or a few parts of the world, ask us to regional code it for you.
• Dual Layer -- Sometimes your title just has too much good stuff. With dual layer, you can go as high as 4 hours of video, plus features.
• Multi-Angle -- If you're going for this ultra-complex feature, we can handle it.
• Enhanced -- For 16 x 9, the wide screen look.
• Custom Menu Design -- Whether you have a vision of your own, or need one from us, we're ready. We can design a visually appealing and user-friendly menu set for you, and then proof them to you for your approval, feedback or changes.
• Advanced and Motion Menus -- Need something a little jazzier? How about a full motion/full audio menu intro? Full background audio on your menus? Full
• motion scene indexes? No problem... we've been doing those for years
  

Then we compile and turn the various components into a disc image ready to burn on a DVD-R or to be transferred to a DLT tape for future replication options (we can send it to our third party contractors.

You have to be happy! We then send you a DVD-R check disc.
Upon your approval... We make the final DVD-R discs or we prepare the DLT tape for future replication options (we can send it to our third party contractors.

What's Next? The next step is to contact us and let one of our technical staff assist you through the DVD video creation process. They will assist you in gathering the necessary forms, retrieving your artwork and raw materials, printing your packaging, replicating or duplicating your CD or DVD, and assembling your final product. Finally we can ship your project directly to you or you can take advantage of our many fulfillment options.

Fulfillment
How to outsource order fulfillment and still keep your costs under control. There are minimum, receiving fees, or stock moving fees, for packaging & weighing larger orders, delivery by either AustPost/DHL/AirExpress, with no tricky terms. Delivery rates will vary from one carrier to another. Conditions apply.
